WATER RULES!
USING THE CLEAN WATER ACT TO
PROTECT YOUR LOCAL STREAMS
Saturday, February 26, 2005 from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM at
the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. (Rt. 31) (SE corner
of Rt. 31 and Wilson Road).
This informative training session
will cover ways local watchdogs can better protect streams in the
Fox River watershed by getting involved in Clean Water Act decisions
on facility planning areas, industrial and wastewater discharges,
construction and urban stormwater runoff, and wetland and stream
disturbances.
The trainers are Richard Acker,
Regional Land Use Coordinator, Openlands Project; Jane Li, Volunteer
Coordinator, Prairie Rivers Network; Cindy Skrukrud, Clean Water
Advocate, Sierra Club, Illinois Chapter; and Beth Wentzel, Watershed
Scientist, Prairie Rivers Network.
The cost for the workshop is $10 and
covers a boxed lunch, morning and afternoon snacks and written
materials. Scholarships are available.
