FRIENDS OF THE FOX RIVER PRESENTS

WATER RULES!

USING THE CLEAN WATER ACT
TO PROTECT YOUR LOCAL STREAMS

Saturday, February 26, 2005 from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. (Rt. 31) (SE corner of Rt. 31 and Wilson Road).

This informative training session will cover ways local watchdogs can better protect streams in the Fox River watershed by getting involved in Clean Water Act decisions on facility planning areas, industrial and wastewater discharges, construction and urban stormwater runoff, and wetland and stream disturbances.

The trainers are Richard Acker, Regional Land Use Coordinator, Openlands Project; Jane Li, Volunteer Coordinator, Prairie Rivers Network; Cindy Skrukrud, Clean Water Advocate, Sierra Club, Illinois Chapter; and Beth Wentzel, Watershed Scientist, Prairie Rivers Network.

The cost for the workshop is $10 and covers a boxed lunch, morning and afternoon snacks and written materials. Scholarships are available.

To register send an email to RSVP@friendsofthefoxriver.org or by calling Cindy Skrukrud at 815-675-2594 or Brad Hoar at 847-772-4929 with your name, address, phone number and email.  Then go to the Friends of the Fox website (www.friendsofthefoxriver.org) to find the training session application form (where you give your sandwich preference) and directions on where to mail it and your fee for the workshop.

Deadline for registration is Friday, February 18. Space is limited so please register early.
