Friends of the Fox River is
sponsoring WATER RULES! Using the Clean Water Act to Protect
Your Streams. The workshop will be held on Saturday, February 26,
2005 from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S.
Batavia Avenue (Rt. 31).
This informative training
session will cover ways local watchdogs can better protect streams
in the Fox River watershed by getting involved in Clean Water Act
decisions on facility planning areas, industrial and wastewater
discharges, construction and urban stormwater runoff, and wetland
and stream disturbances.
The trainers are Richard Acker,
Regional Land Use Coordinator, Openlands Project; Jane Li, Volunteer
Coordinator, Prairie Rivers Network; Cindy Skrukrud, Clean Water
Advocate, Sierra Club, Illinois Chapter; and Beth Wentzel, Watershed
Scientist, Prairie Rivers Network.
The cost for the workshop is $10 and
covers a boxed lunch, morning and afternoon snacks and written
materials. Scholarships are available.
