Stream Monitoring Training Workshops for adults, teachers, home school parents & youth group leaders will be held at various locations throughout the watershed. No prior monitoring experience is necessary. Join our growing team of Friends of the Fox River volunteer monitors. Adopt a stream site to monitor once a year and help protect the Fox River and its tributaries.

FOXMap Focus Conference for Teachers & Students is set for Wednesday, March 8, from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Join third grade through college age students, their teachers, and local Environmental Management Professionals for an action-oriented conference. Students from seven schools will present their FOXMap fall findings and offer conclusions based upon their different watershed studies. Professionals will demonstrate how they use GPS & GIS technologies to obtain local watershed information. Together, the students, teachers, and professionals will develop a plan of action for this spring & next fall for collecting additional data (FOXMap Phase 2), and draft a set of recommendations for local decision makers to protect water quality. Monitor With Your Mother Event - Annual Mother's Day Celebration May 14 from 10:00AM-2:00PM at Fox River Shores Forest Preserve in Carpentersville. Our Spring Fox Rescue River Cleanup is set for Saturday, May 20. Join us at a river cleanup on the Fox River or one of its tributaries. Cleanup sites are currently being selected and event details will be announced soon. Friends of the Fox River is a non-profit organization made up of citizens and organizations taking action to protect and maintain the quality of the Fox River and its tributaries. Through our programs and activities, we encourage both adults and students to become involved in protecting the river and its watershed. Each year, we have over 7,500 citizens participating in our programs including our water quality monitoring program (Fox River Watershed Monitoring Network), river and stream cleanups, river habitat improvement projects, and water quality education events.
