Help Friends of the Fox River Improve Fox River Habitat

Friends of the Fox River (FOFR) is continuing its river habitat improvement initiative -- water willow planting. Help us plant over 3,000 water willow plants along the shoreline of the Fox River. Water willows are emergent plants native to the Fox River. When established, they create habitat for fish and provide many other environmental benefits.

There are two planting dates and locations:

July 15, AM (Saturday) - Join us in Oswego at Violet Patch Park and help us plant 2,000 water willow plants. Call Tom Schrader at 630-942-3890 for more info and to sign up. (This is a partnership project with the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance and the Oswegoland Park District.)

July 22, AM (Saturday) - Join us in West Dundee at South End Park and help us plant 1,000 water willow plants. Call Pat Kirmse at 847-458-7032 for more info and to sign up.

Friends of the Fox River’s mission is to preserve, restore and protect the Fox River Watershed's resources by connecting people with nature through education, research, restoration and advocacy.
