Do you like being outdoors? Are you concerned about the environment?
Attend Friends of the Fox River's Watershed Monitoring Network Stream Monitoring Training Workshop for adults, teachers, home school parents & youth group leaders. This free workshop will be held on Saturday, August 27, from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve, Kane County Forest Preserve District, 35076 Villa Marie Road in St. Charles. We will meet at McGuire House building. Lunch is included.
No prior monitoring experience is required. At this informative, interactive workshop, participants will learn techniques that are used to measure the health of the Fox River and its tributaries. After completion of the workshop, Friends of the Fox River will help direct the you to a river segment or stream that you can adopt as your own stream monitoring site.
The workshop is both inside and outside, so participants are asked to wear clothing appropriate for the weather as well as wading in the water. Bring waterproof, knee-high boots if you have them. Otherwise, boots will be supplied.
Please register for the workshop by Friday, August 19th. To register, call Angelique Dunning, Volunteer Coordinator, Kane County Forest Preserve District @ 847-741-9798 or e-mail at dunninga.kcfpd@earthlink.net.
