Ways to be a better Friend are numerous.
Here are three that are time sensitive:
Double Win –
The kayak raffle winner will be drawn the evening of Thursday September 24th at Scorched Earth Brewery in Algonquin. Join us there, but you can’t win without a ticket. It’s a double win opportunity; your winning ticket gets you the kayak & gear, and another to match. Also, your ticket purchases gives you a chance to win but also goes toward supporting our education programming. Only two weeks left, so get yours today HERE
Big Party –
The largest watershed-wide celebration each year is on September 20, 2025. To learn more about how to join us for It’s Our Fox River Day, click HERE celebration. The 20th is the main event, but we welcome events a week either side of that date. Review the event map and geographical event listing to plan your celebration schedule.
Share Your Opinion –
SB 1531 is generally a ban on containers made from polystyrene foam containers. They are banned in seven other states. McDonald’s voluntarily converted from the foam clam shell container to paper in 1990 for Big Macs. Those of us who do shoreline cleanups are aware of the prevalence of plastic pollution. To learn more go to Foam foodware.
Research shows that our elected representatives are most responsive to groups representing their constituents. Second place impact are personal contacts from residents/voters in their district.
Please learn more about SB1531, develop your opinion, and contact your IL State Representative soon, as the vote will be coming up in this session. To locate your representative: find your rep.
