Jenni Kempf and Gary Swick Featured in Film
Featured in the film is FOTFR Director of Education Program Operations Jenni Kempf canoeing all 202 miles of the Fox River, end to end. Jenni’s epic 10-day trip was part of the It’s Our Fox River Day celebration in September 2022.
Also showcased in the film is Gary Swick, FOTFR president and educator, who has been using the Fox River as a classroom since joining FOTFR in 1991. Swick said the film highlights what people across the world can do for the rivers near them, while also educating those living throughout the watershed about our amazing natural resource.
Watershed Warriors Wins 1st Place at ESFF
Watershed Warriors, a short documentary film featuring Friends of the Fox River, won 1st place at the Elgin Short Film Festival on September 23, 2023.
FOTFR president Gary Swick and film director Wade Balsamo accepted the award at the Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin, Illinois.
The award-winning film made its premiere screening on April 20, 2023 at the Ashbury in Elgin. The film is part of an international series focused on protecting waterways worldwide, and is produced by RiversAreLife and supported by BeAlive, two organizations that are committed to “amplifying the Friends of the Fox River story and getting it to the right audiences.”
Watershed Warriors – Short Film is a Tall Hit!
The film debut of Watershed Warriors at the Ashbury in Elgin was a blast. Thank you to all our friends who joined us for this historic event!
