Moments of discovering life in the river create lasting memories and inspire a lifelong commitment to protecting the natural world.

At Friends of the Fox River (FOTFR), we believe these moments of connection are the foundation for lasting watershed protection. In 2024, we delivered over 5,000 watershed education experiences, from stream exploration and water quality testing to engaging indoor programs like the EnviroScape model. These activities bring science to life while creating a ripple effect of environmental stewardship that benefits our entire community.  

We also expanded our reach with new programs like the Schweitzer Woods summer camp and after-school partnerships in 17 Aurora schools. With your support, we can keep these opportunities accessible to all, breaking down financial barriers so every student has a chance to connect with the Fox River.

Through December 31, every donation will be matched up to $8,000 thanks to our generous Board of Directors. Board Member Cheryl Crates says, “I contribute to Friends of the Fox River because it is the main group educating both children and adults on protecting our watershed from pollution. We all drink the water, whether it’s from wells or the river itself.”  

Together, we can inspire more kids like Ana and ensure the Fox River thrives for years to come.
