We Appreciate Our Business Partners
Our Business Partners help Friends of the Fox River keep on fixin’ the Fox River through their established community giving programs, direct donations, and by creating special discounts or giving programs for our members and supporters.
These business owners and companies know how important clean water and a healthy environment is to their customers, and to grow and sustain a vibrant local economy.
Their public support makes a powerful statement about their commitment to a healthy Fox River and the communities that depend on it. Join our Business Partners Program to help protect the Fox River and all the life that depends on it.

Northern Kane County Wild Ones
The Northern Kane County (NKC) chapter of the Wild Ones national organization was founded in 2009. Their mission aligns particularly well with ours at Friends of the Fox River in that they promote native plants, natural landscapes and environmentally sound landscaping practices. Since native plants help prevent storm water runoff and are instrumental in removing nutrients and contaminates from soil and water, we’re all for planting them everywhere possible.
To inform the public about the benefits of natives and to make the plants readily available, NKC Wild Ones has a native plant sale every year on the first Saturday in May at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center in Elgin. Their members (over 100 strong) host monthly educational events and garden tours all year long. Members volunteer at the nature center and local natural areas, and raise Monarch butterflies.
President Steve Rice says “We’re a friendly, welcoming group that enjoys learning about local challenges and ventures — our area is rich in open spaces and natural areas to explore together. And if we can inspire others to take on the challenge of 80% native in their yards and display ‘Conservation at Home’ signs, we’re happy.”
NKC Wild Ones maintains permanent displays at the Schweitzer Environmental Center and supports Friends of the Fox River with a generous annual donation.

They support us, we support them, and we hope you will too.
