of the Fox River (FOTFR) team works hard at building a watershed of caretakers in many ways. It is that time of year to blend in some fun with our Friends.
No Clean Water No Good Beer is the FOTFR version of an annual FUNdraising event as we gather at the premier beer garden at Bandito Barney’s Beach Club. This venue is very special to us at FOTFR, as it is the creative expression of a loyal supporter, the late Thom MacNamee. You will feel that great vibe there. Thank Bandito Barney’s for providing this setting to us year after year.
No Clean Water No Good Beer speaks to our fun demeanor as we work to “Keep on Fixin’ the Fox.” In our work to protect and restore, we take the time to sample and appreciate a fun selection of beers, wines, and coffees. Because we know all these FUN drinks need some good accompaniments and a balance of nutrition, guests will enjoy grazing selections all evening and, new this year, we’ll have a hot hors d’oeuvres hour.
That sets the stage for some real fun – shopping. Many generous Friends and local businesses offer a wide array of items that are exceptional gifts for yourself or to share with others. Toss raffle tickets in an associated bin for what catches your eye or bid on the grander prizes in silent auction style.
All this happens among some of the most loyal FOTFR supporters and Friends. It is a gathering of kindred spirits and an opportunity to renew annual acquaintances.
No Clean Water No Good Beer is work disguised as play and it’s also FOTFR’s largest fundraising event of the year. Usually, half the proceeds come from admission and the other half from the gaming portion. These funds help support our “boots-in-the-water” educational programs and there is no shortage of young people who need our watershed education services. FOTFR is the primary environmental education provider in our large river corridor so come and have some fun with FOTFR and our Friends to support our mission.
