Find the Fox – River Kayak Trip 1

May 28, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

$40 – $55
Find the Fox kayak trip

Algonquin to Fox River Shores Forest Preserve 3.5 miles

This will be the first in a series of trips on the Fox River.

Friends of the Fox River will conduct a series of canoe, kayaking on the Fox River, and a series of walking trips throughout the Fox Valley. These trips will explore the river and its relationship with the land that creates it, and the special natural areas that are unique to the Fox Valley. Tour fees support the work of Friends of the Fox River to preserve, restore, and protect the Fox River Watershed’s resources by connecting people with nature through education, research, restoration, and advocacy. Please see the event calendar for the walking and canoe trips.

This season’s river trips starts out easy with the shortest trip of the series. After a brief safety talk, we’ll put in from Cornish Park and start out paddling in shallow water with occasional riffles as we pass by riverfront homes on Algonquin’s south side.

The bluffs of Buffalo Park will rise up on the right bank and fall away as we pass the ancient river terrace that is now the Brunner Family Forest Preserve. The trip will end at Fox River Shores Forest Preserve Boat Ramp where we’ll help load the boats and gear. Volunteer shuttle drivers and paddlers with their own boats will shuttle back to Cornish Park.

This event has limited tickets available , so don’t wait too long. You won’t want to miss this event!
