Gladstone Fen is owned by Lorna Gladstone and her brother, Evan. It was originally protected and managed by their parents, Lee and Gertrude Gladstone. It is a privately owned, dedicated nature preserve that is approximately 7 acres in size. Over the decades the fen became overgrown with invasive species and was actually becoming drier as the stream through the site was cutting more deeply into the soil and dewatering the surrounding area.

Lorna has indicate she is happy to make a little lunch for everyone on the porch- probably home-made soup, bread and a salad – if we help with seed for an hour. So, please, please RSVP to Becky Hoag at foxriverinfo@comcast.net and let us know if you have special dietary restrictions. And please, please carpool to minimize the number of vehicles.  Wear field clothes and be prepared to help with a little restoration activity!
